Our frustration with car club meets..
Do you feel that your modern classic pride and joy just does not really fit into the many classic and modern supercar clubs / events being held these days ?
We have all been there including myself many times. You park up at an event next to a modern Ferrari or Lamborghini supercar and quite frankly, you don’t have much in common with these supercar or vintage classic car owners and we feel that this is a real shame as the car community is not just about the latest supercars or even the rarest of older classic models. Aspirational and Affordable is what we are about !
What exactly is a modern classic ?
This is our definition ....
There is no hard and fast rule of what becomes a modern classic as this is a truly emotive and subjective discussion point, however, we believe that the car must have some form of ‘iconic’ status when it was launched between the 1980’s and 2000’s and still today, embodies that wonderous feeling for the owner and all who see it. A modern classic does not have to be the fastest, most expensive or the most holy grail car to qualify as one.
However, some form of ‘rarity’ is one key factor for a truly iconic modern classic. Mass produced models from the 1980’s, 90’s and 2000’s could be deemed to fall outside the scope of being a modern classic. We are pretty sure some owners will contest this point of view but our aim is to focus on the ‘iconic’ models from this era. There are going to be some owners claiming that some of the cars we are looking to include within our club are actually ‘classics’ and not ‘modern classics’ due to their age. However, our aim is to include our view of what deem to be iconic marques from the 80s, 90s and 2000s despite the true definition of what a ‘classic’ car should be.

Our vision is for you to be at an event / meet where your iconic dream cars from the 80s, 90s and 2000s are all parked up together. This is what our driving collective is all about and why we would like you to join.
Our push for modern classic owners to drive and display their pride and joy amongst cars borne of a similar era in this wonderful period in time when manufacturers like Audi released the infamous Quattro, Lancia produced the Delta Integrale, Porsche released the 968 Club Sport, 996/997 Turbo or even Mercedes producing the wonderous CLK Black Series and SL55 AMG lets not forget BMW with their (E30), (E46) BMW M3 model range.
We could go on with listing many more iconic cars from this era but you get the idea. Actually, go on, let’s have one more example then. How about your Renault 5 GT Turbo parked at one of our events/meets next to another owners VW Golf GTi Mk2 or even a Peugeot 205 GTi – a collection of true 1980’s hot hatches !
Cars that went head to head back in the day can now be ‘accquainted’ in one place.
We envisage our period specific car meets as being. a place where there will be a great variety of modern classic marques lined up next to each other where genuine motoring interest could be generated between the various owners. This is what Iconic Marques is about – to bring owners of such magnificent cars together !
Our aim is to organise events / meets across the UK and we will contact all owners who register on this web site on our future plans. Registration is vital if you wish to join the Iconic Marques Driving Collective. It is free to join but for some events there may be small charge to cover costs from time to time. The quantity of registered members is not our priority, as we wish to focus on the quality of the iconic modern classic vehicles within the collective.
Seeking Originality
Lets keep our cars as they were meant to be,,
‘Originality’ is the key to join our driving collective. We are only seeking owners of cars where very minor after market modifications have been made. In other words, blaring boy racer exhausts and non original looking engines are not what we are about. Let’s go back to the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s and see cars just as they were meant to be at that period.

We’re not interested in how expensive your car is. Quite frankly, all we are bothered about is whether your car qualifies on our modern classic list in order to join our driving collective. Only the true iconic cars from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s would qualify to join for our events and meets. If your modern classic car is not shown on our qualifying list and you feel we should include it please do contact us for consideration.
A SLIGHT CAVEAT TO JOINING THOUGH….
‘Wheelspinning Waynes’ and ‘Tyre smoking Trevors’ need not apply ! We are seeking owners of modern classic cars who just like displaying and driving their pride and joy with the utmost respect of other road users and club members. This is one caveat to joining that we would expect all members of our collective to all agree on together.
