Behind the scenes...
The Club Founder (Raj Bedi) is the owner of a prestige vehicle export business that has been established for almost twenty years (www.importmarques.com). His prestige, specialist motor trade experience is extensive and he has always had a passion for cars throughout his life. As an owner of various supercars and performance models through the 90’s and 2000’s such as the Ferrari F430 Spider, Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari 550 Maranello, BMW M6, Lamborghini Gallardo, Maserati Gran Turismo and Porsche 997 Turbo, he has seen and experienced cars throughout this era but his true passion lies with the real iconic models from the 1980’s, 90’s and 2000’s.
A word from the c0-founder…
It’s about the ‘aspirational and affordable’…
Back in the 1980’s and 90’s I was absorbed in reading the performance motoring press publications such as Performance Car magazine and Fast Car. No doubt many of you reading this now will also have done so and lusted after all those new models being driven by motoring journalists at the time.
The numerous iconic vehicles that appeared in that era was truly jaw dropping such as the Lancia Delta Integrale, BMW M3 (E30), Subaru Impreza, Ferrari 355, Mazda RX7, VW Golf GTi, Toyota Supra, Mercedes 560 SEC, Lamborghini Diablo to name but a few.
What I did not appreciate at that time was how long those models would remain in my ‘cherished’ cars wish list when I become much older and more able to afford them. The cars that were once revered and unobtainable are now obtainable (in most cases anyway!)
It’s the very feeling of seeing these very cars on the road today that invokes a special feeling inside which excites me and takes me back to that wonderful era. I guess defining the true meaning of an ‘iconic’ modern classic vehicle is not easy but I believe that the qualifying list of cars shown on this site gives a good insight.
With all the supercar and general classic car clubs that exist, there definitely is a need for a specialist modern classic club without the snobbery that can go along with it. Even single marque clubs are split between owners of ultra modern machinery and older models with modern classics sitting in between these two categories. At times these owners are worlds apart with different marque interests,
So, why don’t you register with us and lets get our modern classics out on the road and ‘acquainted’ with each other. I hope you believe in the club ethos which is that we are about ‘Aspirational and Affordable’ modern classics as some of the best ones are not the most valuable in price.
